Valentines Treats

This year I wanted to send Matthew with a Valentine's Treat that wouldn't rot teeth or clog arteries so I decided to make each child in his preschool class a cute little matchbook notepad.

Now these budding writer's have their own personal place to practice printing names, drawing pictures and scribbling I Love You notes to their parents. If you want more detaislon how to make these please feel free to contact me.

Haiti Disaster Relief Cards

Instructions:

1. Stamp dotted heart in Soft Suede ink on Soft Suede card.

2. Punch So Saffron card stock (4" x 1/2") using Pinking Hearts Border punch, and cut down to 2-1/4″ long. Adhere to card.

3. Stamp three hearts image in Melon Mambo ink on Whisper White card stock and punch out lined heart using Heart to Heart punch.

4. Stamp “Friends” in Soft Suede ink on Whisper White card stock, and punch out using Medium Jewelry Tag punch. Punch hole in top of tag using 1/16" Circle punch. Tie linen thread through hole and tie around lined heart.

5. Punch circle from Melon Mambo card stock using 1-1/4" Circle punch. Adhere heart to circle using Stampin’ Dimensionals, and adhere circle to card using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Fox and Friends

I hope you have had a chance to see the new Mini Catalogue and the Sale-a-Bration catalogue as well. There are so many wonderful new products and stamp sets in them both. Here is a quick card that I made using Fox and Friends (clear mount rubber). I think the little animals are adorable and I was thrilled with the quality of the clear mount stamps. The packaging of them is great too. They come in a DVD case with the name AND the images printed on the front and the spine for easy viewing and compact storage. I'm sold on this less expensive and more environmentally friendly way of stamping. Contact me if you would like to know more about these new stamps or would like a copy of one of the new mini catalogues.

1. Punch 2 Melon Mambo 1-3/4” circles and 2 Chocolate Chip 1-3/4” circles.
2. Stamp the owl from Fox and Friends (in current mini catalogue) using Chocolate Chip classic ink. Then punch out the owl using the 1-3/8” circle.
3. Adhere the owl punch out one of the Chocolate Chip circles.
4. Adhere the Chocolate Chip and Melon Mambo circles to a piece of 4” X 5-1/4” Whisper White cardstock. Use scissors to trim the part of the circles the hangs over the edges.
5. Stamp ‘Thank You’ in Chocolate Chip classic ink using the stamp-a-ma-jig.
6. Round all corners of the Whisper White cardstock and of the Melon Mambo cardfront.
7. Adhere the Whisper White cardstock to the Melon Mambo cardfront.

Stampin' Inspiration

Last week I went to a Workshop Wow meeting with other demos from the lower mainland. As part of our monthly get togethers we always have a swap. Here are a few of the great swaps and demos from the evening.

There were some other great projects using the shimmer paints (my photos of that did not turn out though - you could see the gorgeous shimmer), an adorable Santa bag, and some sparkly ornaments. I couldn't wait to get into my stamp room and try some of these techniques myself.

Cards in a Flash

I LOVE Stampin' Up's My Digital Studio! This evening I realized that I should probably send birthday invitations out to Matthew's school friends, but had not yet made any invitations. Oops!
No problem though. I opened My Digital Studio and 5 minutes later I was printing these adorable little invites, full details and images on the inside of the cards too! Then I just added some embroidery thread for the balloon string and put them in the envelopes.

3. Cut Taken with Teal leaf from multicoloured leaf Autumn Meadows Designer Series paper.
4. Repeatedly stamp leaf image in Chocolate Chip ink on grid Autumn Meadows Designer Series paper. Stamp sentiment in Chocolate Chip ink on grid paper. Tear top edge of grid paper. Adhere strip of Taken with Teal Autumn Meadows Designer Series paper to bottom of grid paper. 2. Adhere Old Olive Patterns Designer Series paper (3-7/8" x 3-1/4") to top of Old Olive textured card stock, folding corners around back of bookmark.

3. Stamp elephant image in Jet Black StazOn ink on Naturals White card stock. Watercolour image with Going Gray and Rose Red ink using blender pens. Punch out image using 1-3/4" Circle punch, and adhere to Metal Edge tag.

4. Punch flower from Rose Red textured card stock using Trio Flower punch. Punch hole in centre of flower using 1/16" Circle punch, and attach Silver brad. Adhere flower to tag with Mini Glue Dot, and adhere tag to bookmark using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

5. Tie Old Olive 1/2" striped grosgrain ribbon around bookmark.

Birthday Calendar Class

'Tis the Season....for Birthdays!

It seems like everyone I know has at least one child with a summer birthday (my youngest son is one of them!) So we are getting ready for a stream of birthday parties. The gifts are purchased and now I have the cards to make. Here is a boy and a girl sample of the cards I am making.

The boy card uses Pun Fun (it has a birthday saying inside from the SU! set On Your Birthday).

The colours are real red, soft suede, tempting turquoise, taken with teal, and more mustard. This was my first time using an aqua painter - I think it turned out well. This card also sports a piece of hardware from the Vanilla Hodgepodge kit currently on sale - see previous post for details.

The girl card uses a set and paper that are WAY out of my normal style - Pony Party stamp set and Kaleidoscope DSP,as usual all supplies are Stampin' Up! I used the Big Shot to cut the pink frame around the saying and Dazzling Diamonds to add a little sparkle. The pony was coloured using blender pen and pixie and passion pink ink. My 3 year old son LOVED the sparkles he wanted to make his own yellow pony - with LOTS of sparkles.

Instructions
Fold coaster in half. Punch holes through right edge using hole punch.
Stamp checkered image in Real Red ink on top and bottom of Confetti White card stock.
Stamp "Dig in" in Night of Navy ink in center of Confetti White card stock (1-5/8" x 1-5/8"). Punch one hole through top and two holes through left side. Thread toothpick through holes on left side. Adhere Confetti White card stock to towelette.
Stamp star image in Night of Navy ink on Confetti White card stock. Cut out. Attach silver brad to centre. Adhere star over hole for toothpick.
Thread linen thread through holes in coaster and through hole in Confetti White card stock. Tie in bow.

Comments:
Using the distressing tool, distress all the card stock except the glossy white. Stamp the Baroque BG in versamark ink, stamp on glossy white card stock, pour the black embossing powder over the image and heat. Stamp the sentiment in black ink on the white card stock. Mount the large Old Olive to the black card front and then mount the Baroque embossed image on the old olive. Tie the old olive ribbon around the card, top to bottom in a knot. Thread your hat pin with pearls and crystals from the pretties kit, pin through the know and secure with clutch. Mount the sentiment to the small old olive cs and then to the small black cs. Punch two 1/8" holes in the lower right corner using your hand held punch, insert rhinestone brads and secure. Mount to lower right corner using stampin dimensionals.

Stamp bubbles image repeatedly in Pacific Point ink on Pacific Point card.

Punch one square each from Summer Sun, Kiwi Kiss, Riding Hood Red, and Tangerine Tango card stock using 1-3/8" Square punch.

Stamp sun image in Summer Sun ink, “Sun fun” in Kiwi Kiss ink, beach pail in Riding Hood Red ink, and flip flops in Tangerine Tango ink on Whisper White card stock. Punch out each image using 1-1/4" Circle punch, and adhere to coordinating square using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Snip top corners from Kiwi Kiss card stock (3-1/4" x 4-1/4") to create tag. Punch slot in top of tag using Horizontal Slot punch. Thread Kiwi Kiss polka-dot ribbon through slot, and tie a piece of linen thread around ribbon.

Adhere four squares to tag, and adhere tag to card using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Hopefully my brother-in-law to be doesn't read my blog because here is the birthday card I made for him (his birthday isn't until the 12th). He is a painter specializing in real flame paint jobs on motorbikes. I'm not that talented so I will stick to old school flames. The stamp set I used is Loads of Love. The wheels are Jumbo eyelets.

A Few More Samples

Here are the two make'n'takes from last week's Open House. The first one is a square card using the Level 2 hostess set - A Little Somethin'. It is a 3X3 card to fit in the small square envelopes.

The other was a simple card using the sweetest stem embosslit (in the Big Shot), the scallop edge punch and a square punch to create the V shape on the sayings tag.

Finally, here is a VERY quick valentine I whipped up for Matthew's 3 class teachers. This card is 3.5" X 4.5". I used the 'A Happy Heart' stamp set in real red.

I found Valentine coloured candy corn at Thrifty's this week, so couldn't resist making up a little basket of treats for my husband, John (candy corn is his favourite - but usually only available at Halloween).

I used Real Red DSP, A Happy Heart stamp set, and my Baskets & Blooms die in the Big Shot. I did have to get a bit creative for the tag. I stamped the images, cut it 1.5" rectangle and then ran it through until the top had cut, then reversed it so I could keep the long tag. Then I rounded the bottom corners. It was much easier than that all sounds. For a final touch I punched out some flowers and added them to the basket with a rhinestone brad.

Instructions
Stamp tic tac toe image on Pirouette Pink CS card base using Pirouette Pink Classic ink.
Cut Whisper White and Riding Hood Red CS using the Big Shot & Top Notes die. I did not cut the full shape only about 2/3. Trim edge of the Riding Hood Red Top Note. Stamp dandelion image using White Craft ink. Glue all 3 layers together.
Use scallop edge punch on a piece of 5-1/2" X 1- 1/2" textured Chocolate Chip CS. Tie ribbon around the paper strip and adhere to the card front.
Use Chocolate Chip Marker to ink the curly label, omitting the thank you. Stamp immage on Whisper White CS.
Ink i love u stamp with Riding Hood Red Ink and the Chocolate Chip Marker. Use stamp-a-ma-jig to stamp inside the curly label. Use Curly Label punch to cut out image. Ahere to card front using dimensionals.

Instructions
Adhere Candy Lane paper to Riding Hood Red card.
Ink love image using Old Olive and Riding Hood Red ink, and stamp on Very Vanilla card stock. Punch hearts from Candy Lane paper using Heart to Heart punch, and adhere small heart to card stock using Stampin' Dimensionals.
Punch scalloped border on Old Olive card stock using Scallop Edge punch, and adhere behind Very Vanilla card stock. Sew along left edge of card stock using sewing machine and thread, and adhere to card using Stampin' Dimensionals.

Here is a quick little thank you card that I made (X16) for my spoiled little boys to send to all their friends and relatives. Christmas has been a blast, now I need to start scrapbooking it.

The colours used were kiwi kiss, tempting turquoise, riding hood red and whisper white. The sets used were Thank you Kindly, Spotlight on Christmas, Seeing Spots and Itty Bitty Backgrounds. Plus a white gel pen and the large star punch.

Christmas Paint Can

Sorry I have not been posting more regularly - but the snow has just been too much fun. Matthew and I have been building snowmen, snow forts and sledding.

Here is a little paint can I picked up at the dollar store. I just wrapped a piece of ski slope paper around the middle, used the top note die cut to cover up the gap since the can is more than 12" around. I used Enjoy every moment stamp set and the snowflake from the level 3 hostess bundle (Seasonal icons). For the handle I tied bit of riding hood red and baja breeze striped ribbon, and I used the Deer Friends hostess set for the tag. Hope you all have a safe, happy Christmas!

December Calendar page

This is the December page from a scrapbooking calendar I made with my stamping group. Over the next few days I will try to post the whole calendar. The paper is textured real red, baja breeze, Ski Slope Designer Paper. I used chipboard, silver cord baja breeze ribbon and 'Spotlight on Christmas' stamp set for the embellishments.

Treat Bag Toppers

This cute little gingerbread bag topper was made using the Big Shot - Top Notes die, Ski Slope paper, real red paper, real red and close to cocoa ink, Deer Friends and Many Merry Messages stamp sets. I glued all the cardstock and Designer Paper together before running it through the Big Shot. My 3 year old actually helped me baked and decorate the cookies and to cut the top note die.

Card Swap

In late November I particpated in a card swap with fellow demonstrators at Pam Lee's Team Canada Christmas party. Everybody made beautiful cards to swap, so I thought I would share them with you. Christmas Bagelope

This cute little bag was made using a medium envelope and some designer paper. All you do is seal the envelope, decorate using stamps (or I used a roller), then trim 1/8" off the top to create an opening. Score the bag 1" from the other 3 sides to create sides and a bottom. Fold all your crease lines, open it up, fold the flaps under and use sticky strip to adhere them to the bottom.

To create the topper, cut a piece of DSP using the Top Notes die in the Big Shot. Fold the die cut in half and glue to the back of your bagelope. Use the cropadile to punch 2 holes through the folded diecut. Then use the cropadile again to secure the jumbo eyelets. Finally, fill your pouch with a gift or treats, thread a piece of ribbon through, and tie it closed. I also use some silver cord to attach a gift tag that I created using the Deer Friends hostess set and the scallop punch.
